The “Daily Mail” ’says the King provided a welcome surprise—the surest evidence of progress—by signing a tribute to the Air Force, indicating keen appreciation of the recent events. He is now reading the newspapers and studying summaries of important Empire international happenings, which the staff has prepared in order to complete his knowledge of affairs at present lacking owing to* his illness. The Queen, when shopping at Bognor, accompanied by Princess Mary, visited Woolworth’s 3d and 6d store, and spent 26 minutes inspecting the counters and talking to girl assistants. She bought numerous articles, including several detective stories, which she presented to the bazaars.
