AT FAIRLIE. A meeting of the committee of the Alackenzie County A. and P. Society was held in the Parish Hall, Fairlle. Present—Messrs Andrew Grant (president). G. Morris, T. Bussell, S. K. Gillingham, K. Anderson, W. H. Cook, A. Dorman, W. R. McConnell, W. G. Black, AV. Snushall, C. W. An nett. J. Pollock, J. Turkington, J. Sims, AV. Dorman, W. Pickering and H. A. Munro. The New Zealand Trotting Association wrote granting pel-mission for a trotting competition to bo held at the show. Mr G .S. Ridley, Agricultural Instructor, forwarded a circular letter re agricultural work at schools. The following tenders for privileges were accepted—rLicenscd booth, Mr Wardell, Club Hotel, Timaru; luncheon booth, Air G. H. Bryant, Geraldine; soft drinks, fruit, etc., Mrs D. H. Doyle, Fairlie. Air A. Dorman proposed that this year the Society supply hot water to picnic parties at tne show, free of charge.—Seconded by Air AV. H. Cook, and carried. Air S. A. Clark, Albury, was unanimously elected a member of the Society. The class stewards who acted last year, and who were still available, were selected ,in the various classes, those in charge of each class having power to add. Air Pickering mentioned that there was danger of fire in the show grounds, and thought that suitable fire breaks should be made round the buildings. The matter was left to the ground committee to attend to.

The treasurer reported that the credit balance was now £245.

The question of the secretary’s salary was discussed, a.nd it was decided that it be £IOO per year, and that no commission or bonus, be paid as in the past. The ground committee reported that a contract for the painting of the bindings on the show ground had had ! been let, and the work was now in ! hand. The thirty-first show of the Society, which is to be held on Easter Monday, promises to eclipse any other yet hejd. Inquiries for prize schedules are daily being received from all parts ot Sopth Canterbury. Several new features are being introduced among them being a trotting competition open to all comers.
