GERALDINE
LICENSING COMMITTEE. The members of the Licensing Committee for the Temuka district (which includes Geraldine) are Messrs T. E. Gunnion, G. B. Cartwright, G. Hancox, W. F. Evans and G. Murray. Nominations for the new committee close to-day, bub the readjustment of the district boundaries precludes Mr Murray from nomination. It is understood that arrangements have been made whereby the present committee, with the exception of Mr Murray, will be nominated, and that his place will be filled by Mr J. Kennedy, Mayor of Geraldine. If this arrangement is carried out, and no further nominations are received, a contested election will be avoided, and the ratepayers of the district will bo saved the cost which an election would entail. PERSONAL. Mr and Mrs G. Lyons, of Fairlie, are on a visit 'to Geraldine. Miss W. Grieve and Miss E. Grieve, of Christchurch, are visiting Geraldine. Included among recent visitors to Hanmer House, Hannier Springs, was Mrs E. Blaki'ston, Geraldine.
