Mr G. S. Cray left Timaru by yesterday’s second express for the north. Mr J. W. Preen left Timaru yesterday, to attend a Rotarians’ conference in Christchurch, opening on Wednesday. Several other Timaru delegates will leave for Christchurch to-day. Mr J. Shaw Thompson, editor of the “Daily Herald,” published at Dal by Darling Downs, Queensland, arrived in Timaru yesterday. Mr Thompson, who is an old Timaru boy, is making a brief tour of the Dominion.

The Postmaster-General (Hon. J. B. Donald), accompanied by Mr G. McNamara (Secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department), arrived in Timaru from the north yesterday morning. After receiving a deputation in regard to the need lor additional postal facilities for Timaru, he left for Dunedin later in the afternoon. Among the passengers who will sail for San Francisco to-morrow by the Makura is Air Moulton-Redwood, who is returning lo Canada after three years' residence in New Zealand. Air Redwood, who is a ninth-year associate ot the American Institute of Electrical Engineers and a member (past V.P.) of the Toronto Radio Re so a run Society, recently resigned his position on the engineering staff of General Moors, New Zealand, Ltd., to take up a position in Ottawa.

The members of the Kia Toa Bowling Club gathered at the pavilion for the purpose of wishing one of their members. Mr Charles Davis, bon voyage, prior to his departure on a trip to the Homeland. On behalf of the members, the president, Mr E. Uarroch, presented Mr Davies with a ease of pipes, with the best wishes of all for a pleasant holiday. Mr Davis, in acknowledging the good wishes and gift, thanked the members for their kindness and said that although he had come amongst them only a tew years afro, a total stranger, the spirit of good fellowship was so strong in the howling fraternity that he had no only spent many happy hours on the green, but had made many new friends.

On the occasion of his departure for Auckland from Timaru. to take up the position of representative in the North Island for a large drapery concern, Air Alat. Henderson was met in the Club Hotel, by a representative gathering of Timaru business men, and made the recipient of a handsome present of crystal ware. The presentation was made by Mr J. Tennant, who referred to Air Henderson’s good qualities, both as a business man, and as a sport. Air Henderson would be greatly missed by a large circle of friends, and the speaker expressed the hope that all prosperity would come his way in Auckland. Aftep several others had spoken. Air Hender* son made appropriate acknowledgment of tho gift, saving that his pleasant associations in Timaru would always be a source of great pleasure to him. Air Henderson left for Auckland yesterday. After the even ng serrree in St. Michael’s Church, Christchurch, on Sunday, a large company adjourned to the Parish Room for tho purpose of saying good-bye to Air A. K. Easterbrook, who is leaving shortly to take up a position on the stall of the Pleasant Point District High S-hool. The vicar, the Rev. Charles Perry, wi.j presided, made feeling reference to the keen sense ot loss felt by all the departure of Mr Easterbrook. who, as a server, chairman. and member ct the Society of St. Osmund, had lor ninny years given invaluable service to the church.
