When partaking of dinner last J evening, Eric Jane, aged about 40, supposedly single, a member of the bridge gang of the Whangarei railway staff, fell from his chair and expired in a few minutes. On the medical evidence at the inquest on Freda Lewis (21), who died under strange circumstances of a sudden seizure at her home on January 30, poisoning at first being suspected, the Coroner, Mr W. As a result of a motor accident on the Taneatua road at midnight on Saturday, Lola Marcia Warn, aged 19, lies dangerously injured in the Whakatane Hospital. She was a passenger in a car going to Taneatua, which was passed by a motor lorry carrying merry-go-round gear from the Opotiki show to vVhakatane. As the car and lorry passed an eleven foot tent pole on the lorry, with a poinfc at the end, penetrated six inches into the back of the girl, just underneath the shoulder blade, inflicting a terrible wound. The patient is not expected to recover. KILLED ON MT. EG MONT. By Telegraph— Press Association. STRATFORD, Fob. 25. Arthur Ronald Moss, aged 22 years l soil of the Borough Electrical Engin.! eer, A. E. Moss, was killed on Alt Egmont yesterday morning by being ’ struck by a boulder, which crashed clown the mountain side. A\ ith a party of tnree others, Moss i left at midnight to climb to the summit. Much difficulty was experienced m getting the body down to the mountain House, the relief men having to negotiate difficult and dangerous paths.
