ACCUSATION AGAINST MR DAVY. EXPLANATION AND PREDICTION. (Special to the “Herald/*) WELLINGTON, Dec. 14. **l have been a Reformer for many years and have been accused of being a political rat, M declared Mr A. L. Davy organiser for the United Party, in the course of the. speech which he mado at the complimentary dinner tentcred to Sir Joseph Ward last night “I was born in New Zealand and I am a New Zealander first, remarked Mr Davy. “I place my party second. I considered that the Reform Patty were becoming a menace to New Zealand and its people, and I therefore, seceded from it to the United Party. If, however, the United Party do not attempt to put their policy into operation at tho end of two, or possibly three years, and do not do what f think thov should do for tho people of New Zealand, I shall leave them, and do what I can against them. i make no secret of that at ail. lam not in the game merely as a political organiser; but 1 have no fears at all for the United Party. With such a strong virile party, I think your reign will be r. very long one indeed, and one that will be for the benefit of th« people of New Zealand.
