ST. SAVIOUR’S ORPHANAGE.

. PICNIC. AT TEMUKA. On Saturday . afternoon last the North End Improvement Association gave the boys of St. Saviour’s Orphanage a picnic at Temuka Domain. On arrival at. Teinuka they were mot by the Mayor of Temuka (Air T. Gunnion) and the Town Clerk, and welcomed to Temuka'. During the afternoon races were; held .and afternoon tea was provided.; Mr G. AV. Andrews thanked the Mayor for his kindness, the Town Clerk (Air Jeune), the caretaker (Air AleDonald) who generously _ boiled the copper ; Air Eenn (for fruit) and Air A. E. Smith (for biscuits). , Air Gunnion replied, stating that Temuka. was always willing to help such occasions. Air Shell, on behalf of the Orphanage, thanked all who had helped to provide the outing, which was much appreciated by the staff and the boys. ; The committee wish to thank all those who supplied cars, Messrs J. Battra.y and Son, and Messrs Alilne Bremner for sweets, and Air H. Stuart for tomatoes. During the afternoon a programme of races was got off, the results being as follows: — Flat race 4 to 6 years. —Bobbie Gaddler 1, Ray Livingstone 2, Ronnie Bateman 3. Plat race 6 to 8 years.—Clive AlcNaughton 1, Billy Burns 2, Bobby Stone 3. Flat race 8 to 10 years.—-John Turner 1, Morris Stammers 2, Jim Stewart 3. Flat race 10 to 12 years. —Lloyd Stammers 1, George Harrison 2, Hector Sinclair 3. Flat race over 12 years.—Douglas. Alolfntt 1. Jack Willetts 2, Frank Bateman 3.
