GLENAVY STOCK SALE. At the sale. held at Glenavy yesterday, there was an entry of 200 fat sheep and about the same number ot stores. There was a poor attendance of farmers, but the usual number ot freezing buyers. Competition was keen for fat Jambs, the highest price being 3os for a draft of. 145. Others brought up to 34s 3d. Fat ewes brought up to 21s 2d. One hundred and fifty-two 2, 4 and 6-tooth wethers were, passed at 24s 6d. Another line of F. and F.AI. eWes were passed at 12s 6d.

WAIMATE MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB.

At the opening of the Waimate Miniature Rifle Club’s programme, a tioI phy presented by the president (Air G. Manchester) was shot. for. The shoot resulted in -a -tie between A. Dunnill and A. Mills. PERSONAL. After spending, a few days m Waimate, Mr Finnerty, of the Post Office staff, Wellington, returned home. Miss Irene Woods, who for some years had been a valued member of the Waimate Methodist Church choir, left Waimate last week to take up a position in Dunedin. The news - ' that Waimate is to be made the mid-way house for a Dun-edin-Christchurch car service is received in Waimate-with some jubilaton. Much has been done of recent- > years to put Waimate on the map by means of various forms of publicity, and this result, is looked upon as a worth-while reward. At the monthly meeting of the Loyal Alorven Oddfellows, M.U., opportunity was taken of making a presentation to P.P.G.AI,. Bro. S. J. Bailey, who, after filling the otlice of permanent secretary for 13 years, lias retired from that position. In expressing appreciation of the splendid work done by the retiring secretary, N.G. Bro. Keen hoped that lie would long be spared to enjoy Oddfellowship. One. of the pioneers of the. Lodge, P.P.G.AI. Bro. Marshall, referred to the capable manner in which Bro.
