THE WEATHER.

Dominion Meteorologist. An intense anti-cyclone has extended over the Southern Tasman Sea, and tho barometers are now very high from Cook Strait southwards. In the northern districts, however, pressure is relatively low, and there is evidence of a cyclone developing in the northern Tasman Sea. Expect easterly winds north of Cape Egmont and Castlepoint; elsewhere southeasterly, moderate to strong generally, and reaching gale force in many places, more especially in and north of Cook Strait. Seas very rough on tlie Eastern Coast, and rather rough off shore of the western. Weather fanto fine in Westland and Otago; elsewhere cold, unsettled and changeable, with showers, but some heavy rain probably in the northern and East Coast- districts of the North Island.
