(From Our Own Correspondent) .. .W.O.T.U. . THE. TEMUKA BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the Temuka branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union ; was held in the Methodist Hall, Denmark Street. It was agreed to hold,a “Bring and Buy” afternoon at the residence of the secretary (Mrs E. Blackmore)- on February 16. One member was welcomed from the Pleasant Point Union, and three members were initiated. During the afternoon Miss E. Bryan favoured tho gathering with a solo, and- afternoon tea was dispensed.

DRUNKENNESS. A first offender, who appeared before Mr T. C. Lowrie, J.P., at Temuka on Saturday, was convicted and discharged for drunkenness. Sergeant Dwan said that the .defendant was a methylated spirit drinker. CRICKET. TEMUKA v. PAREORA. The competition was advanced another "stage on Saturday ■ afternoon, when these teams met on the Oval in the Domain.
