A naval wireless from Swatow reports that Chinese soldiers forced an entrance to the English Presbyterian Mission Hospital, gagged the Chinese assistants, and threatened the officials with revolvers, intimating that in future they must receive instructions concerning, the management from the military authorities. A doctor managed to get a message to tho British warship, which immediately sent a platoon of armed naval ratings, who are guarding the hospital. The British Consul lias notified the Chinese authorities that the guard will not be removed until an assurance is given that there will be no further molestation. The situation is considered serious.
