The rifle meeting continued in fine weather, but a tricky mirage and puffy winds made conditions difficult. The New Zealanders over the weekend fired a friendly match over 300 yards, 600 yards, 700 yards and 900 yards, against a AA r est Australian team, which finished second in last Commonwealth match. The Dominion team performed excellently to be beaten by only fifteen points, the points being: AVest Australia .... .. 1724 New Zealand 1709 H. Boon headed the New Zealand scores with an aggregate of 121. Captain Masefield registered the only possible of the day. TO-DAY’S SHOOTING. The Piazza match (300 yards) was won by S. A. Gentle (Mudgee). The New Zealanders, AV. J. Green, F. Sharland, AV. H. Ballinger, and AV. N. Masefield won £1 each. The Maitre match (600 yards) was won by D. Leitch (AVest Australia). The New Zealanders to win £1 each, were AV. J. Green, AV. H. Ballinger, F. Higgs and J. Heney, • The Dangar match of 70 0 yards, was won by A. Blotch (New South AVales), with Boon (Karori) second, the latter winning £6 prize. The following New Zealanders won £1 each: E. E. Vennell, AV. Green, J. Turnbull, AA r . Masefield, E. Ballinger.
