ROCKLAND Superphosphate and Special Manures toeanthe best forage and not crops. FORAGE CROPS. For successful growth, crops such as P ape, Kale and Chou Moellier, require adequate quantities of those manures which will ensure quick and deep rooting to establish plants before the dry summer period; for profitable results accrue only fo m rapidly grown crops of high feeding value. ROOT CROPS. Potatoes and Mangels are high yielding crops which draw heavily on the fertility of the soil and hundreds of tests prove conclusively that maximum returns are obtained when heavy quantities of the right manures are used. S:r John Russell of Rothamsted Experimental Station states that “Superphosphate is the best form of phosphate for potatoes” —it ensures heavy, profitable yields as proved in the Agricultural Department tests carried out on Mr. L. C. Banks’ farm, Coutts Island, where a profit of £6/16/6 per acre was secured by the use of 3 cwts. Superphosphate and 5 cwt. Superphosphate on the same area of potatoes raised the profit to £B/2/6. On certain lands Rockland Special Potato manure has also given excellent results.
