RAINFALL RECORDS.

Weather records for September in South Canterbury, have been notified as follows : ' _ Timaru Park (Air D. N. Harper): The rainfall lor September was l.ot inches. Bain fell on ten days. Iho total sunshine lor the month was 100 hours /‘minutes, an average of 6 hours 6 minutes per day. Frost was registered on 13 niglits, 7 degrees being the hardest, on tne morning of the 13tn lust. ~, . , , Orari Gorge (Air A. J. Blakiston): Bain fell on 11 days, the total lull being 3.56 in. The maximum tall was 7.07 in. on September 34. In Septembei of last year the fall was 2.90 in. Seadown (Air U. L. Twentyman); Bain fell on 9 days, the total tali being 1.89 in. The heaviest tall was 65 points on September 20. Pleasant Point (Air Stewart AN oofhndin)Rain fell on 11 days during September, the heaviest fall being oil the 24th when 62 points were recorded. There was also a slight fall of snow on that date. The total for the month was 2.07 in. _ The Sehoolhouse, AVinehester (Air J. L AYhite): —Two hundred and twenty points of rain were recorded at Winchester School in September, on 8 days, as compared with 73 points on 6 days recorded last year. The total rainiall since the beginning of the year was 15.27 inches, which is only 1.42 inches short of last year’s record. Frost was recorded on 5 nights; minimum temperature, 30 degrees F. The maximum shade temperature was 71 degrees on the 25th. One and a half inches oi snow fell on the 26th. Geraldine Downs (Air Al. G. Avilliams): —The rainfall in September was 2in 3pts. Bain fell on 9 days, the heaviest fall being on September 21. No frosts were recorded during the month, but the thermometer registered 33 on the night of the 12th. Three inches of snow fell in the early hours ot the e A7th. The rainfall for 1927 up to and including September has been 17.49 points, as compared with 13.3/ points in the corresponding period of 1926, and 27.38 points in 1925.
