THE TARIFF REVISION.
To the Editor of tho “Timaru Herald.” Sir.—ln your report of tlio mooting of the South Canterbury Executive of tho Farmers’ Union, it is stated that Mr P. Talbot, as chairman, squashed a discussion on the proposed tariff on agricultural implements, by saying “that as the matter had been before the House it would be a waste of time discussing it.” One wonders whether Mr Talbot did .this deliberately or through ignorance, because the second reading of the Bill does not come on until Wednesday next. _ Compare liis action with that of the North and MidCanterbury Executives, who discussed the matter thoroughly, and passed resolutions to be forwarded to the proper quarters. It seems to me that members of tho Union are entitled to an explanation from Mr Talbot for his action, and I, for one, would like to hear it. —I am, etc. MEMBER.
