SOUTH SCHOOL.
MEETING OF COAIAIITTEE. The monthly meeting of the South School Committee was held at the School, Air AV. Gibb presiding. t There were also present—Alessrs G. T. Jacobs, A AV. McNeil, AV. J. Ruston, u . v. Hawkey, A. F. Struthers, F. Chittock and AV. J. Dickson (lion, secretary). The headmaster (Air J. Aletiiven 8.A.), was also present. An apology was received from Air H. J. Brewer. The secretary o fthe Canterbury Education Board advised that the workshops foreman had been instructed to supply various requirements 11s a. keel for; that the assistant architect had been instructed to report on rooms, the renovation of which had been applied for; also that the department had r.ten requested to make payment of subsidy on work which had been carried out. Air AV. Alalthews wrote thanking the headmaster and committee for permitting him to give an entertainment at the school and enclosed a cheque towards the funds. The headmaster’s report showed that the attendance, wliicli had been serious owing to epidemic conditions, was improving. Air Gordon had organised a children’s concert to assist in procuring musical class’ books, as recommended" by the Director of Alusical Education. The visitors for the month (Alessrs Dickson and AlcNeil) presented a lengthy report dealing comprehensively wil.b tlio requirements ot the school. ( Jt was resolved to comply with several requests from the staff lor conveniences in the class rooms, and Hie matter of laving down a cricket pitch was left to tlie secretary and chairman, with power to act. Several other matters of importance wore discussed at length, and it was decided to call a meeting ol householders and parents for next Tuesday evening.
