KING MOTOR HOLDS COURT.

EXHIBITION OF WORLD’S FINEST PRODUCTS. The South Canterbury Motor Olympia, which opens at Messrs John Mil) and Co.’s store on M.unduy night at b o’clock, promises to .eclipse any .previous effort on the part ol the enerirctie O'ympia Committee. For weeks past the various garage ’proprietors in Ihe Smith Canterlmry area have been working with one aim—to provide a display (hat: is not only attractive. IN'* 1o impress on the public the greatness of the automobile industry. Each firm is. with the spirit of Iriondlv rivalry, doing its utmost to place its Lionels before the public in the most attractive manner. No expense has been r pared, and no labour lias been too great to demonstrate in the finest way. possib'e. t!>e Britidi. American and Continental motor ears. Housing the Exhibition. No better testimonial for the show could be secured than the display preicnted last vear. The many thousands tluit wended their way to file C.K.C.A. Wool Store were astounded that a Motor Olympia could he inch a success. Miuiv of those who visited the show had also witnessed the O’vmpia at the New Zealand and bout 1 ! Seas Exhibition, and it was ,viih one voice that 1 hey proclaimed 'lmt. the South Canerhilry show was not lar behind, and in fact in some .respects, -uoh as decora.tions, was even superior. . d ins year’s slmw will be somewhat sini'lar lull the Committee have had a year in which to still further improve the general lay out. 'This \ ear they nave been fortunaC' to secure die spac.ous woe! stores of .Messrs .John -Mill and Co., and although these. Stores may not bo as convenient as last year, they certainly ill’ the purpose ill every respect. The., bare appearance of the stoves has been 1 completely lost and a rapid transformation oil’evied. Hunting and streamer-; • obliterate the wliito-

washed walls, while the massive stays and crossbars- have been uti’ised to further enhance the attractiveness ot the - display. i’he competitive spirit in the decoration of the hays is inos t

apparent, and so keen has it been tlial’ •many of them are perfect. klorul decorations and- '-oslly carpeting and furnßhings give (he bays a homely 1 appearance,' and the inspection of any special car can be earned out in ilm midst of a delightful atmosphere. The ighting effects are ol the heft, and iestmms will brilliantly light the way to the carnival. ’There is a .'50(1 e.p. lamp to every 400 sq. loot ol space, so that there are 70 lamp burning in the building. This adds considerably io tlie erfect ol the general colours scheme. World's Finest Products. Just as the Agricultural and Pastoral Shows are to educate 'lie pub'ie as to the extent that scientific i.inning can improve stock and crops generally, so does the Motor Ofympui Committee ol South Canterbury endeavour to educate the buying public, enabling them to see at the Motor Olympia the very latest product c.f the iiiie-t engineering brains of the whole wor'd. Cars .submitted lor inspection are in every case standard factory production, and when one. compares tlm present exhibits with those shown years ago, one must be 1 struck with the great improvements | made. There is no such as stand-i ing still. One must march forward or he left far behind in the present com- [ tncreia' age, and it has been achnow- 1 lodged the world over that mechanical transport has definitely ousted earlier methods of moving passengers and goods, from the day of the old bullock and mule teams at throe miles an hour to the present high speeds of the modern motor. Thorn is economy of

labour, time and running expense which must necessarily bo I'oTowcd by greater productivity unci greater earning power. These must both reflect on tlie healthy tone of the Dominion. Showing the Goods, Olympia Motor Shows are held throughout the world, hut more particularly in the lands of the ear manufacturers, Great Britain, France, America, etc., and the importance of those Olympias is proved by their huge attendances. On such occasions opportunity is also taken to hold conferences where different subjects of vital import.mice to the trade and their connection with the general public are fully discussed, and the buying publio receive the gain as they reap a direct benefit. The manufacturer is uhvayv out to improve his models, and giro

the. very latest and best to the ear owner, and this must be achieved at the lowest possible cost owing to the keenness of competition in the ear industry. Thus the public are offered through these O’ympia Shows the latest in chassis and body designs at the lowest price commensurate with the Quality offered, and there is no doubt that the Timaru Olympia will add to the lustre already borne by its predecessor. | Car importers ami car owners both benefit by the holding i f Olympias, as where a hen'thy atmosphere of competition is existent, it must create cleaner, straighten and better business, with the ultimate result that the genral public get better protection and more efficient service. High Quality. 7 s far as the ears t hemese 1 . es are concerned, quality will be the key-note of the 1927 Olympia at Timaru. Eights, sixes and lours wi'l lie on View in impressive variety. The still greater trend towards perfection in upholstery quality, will be apparent to all those who visit the Show. It is the mirorr to the ger,ius m motordom, whether it be trucks cars. motor cycles and accessories of which there seems to be no end. I here wil' be much in this latest and greatest Olympia to interest every motor-car owne.‘ or potential car-owner, and whether lit buys now or inter, lie lias the assurance of the fact that never in the history of motor-ears have tin manufacturers been able to otfer so much. Come to the Fair! The arrangements for this years Olympia are excellent. The spacious building is arranged in one 'ong aisle between two rows of stands and there will he breaks between vault stand so that the public can move from one to the other. Ample space has been provided for the tug-of-war ion tests which will bS a special feature of the Olympia. They will be held every evening, and an energetic committee lias all arrangement? well in hand. The Rowing Ckib will manage this Department of the Olympia, and it is unnecessary to state that their committee thoroughly understands the requirements for contests of the kind. Cat.Togues of the Olympia will be on sale, and except for this and afternoon tea, the only expense is the shilling entrance fee. Children will be admitted half price. Every evening there will be an orchestra in attendance, and the musical programme be one of the ossentia's for assuring tho Show’s success. The opening ceremony will take plnco on Monday at 8 p.m. when the Deputy-Mayor (Mr A. L. Gee), will officiate. He will bo supported by two or three other speakers. So far everything points to the 1927 Olympia being an outstanding success. The goods are there arrayed in splendour, and now a'l that is wanted is the support of tho general public. If R is supported anything like last year, the committee will have no cause for complaint.
