PREPARATIONS BEING MADE. Preparations are now well in band for tlm sixty-second exhibition of the Timaru A. and P. Association, which is to bo held on Wednesday and Thursday, October 26 and 27. Tim show grounds, and the buildings and yards thereon, are all in the best of good order, and on Show Bay, a visit to tliis well-sheltered and wellappointed location wiil be found well worth while. The Morse Section promises to attract a let of attention this year. The Thomas Teschemaker prize of £5 5s will be awarded as a special prize for most points in light horses; and a reserve championship ticket will be- given in all classes m which championships aro awarded. All entire horses, throe years old and upwards, must have passed an examination of a Veterinary Surgeon within tho preceding year, and must show certificates before being judged. The Association will give a prize of £3 Ms and a miniature cup for the champion draught mare, and a similar prize for the champion draught entire’, provided there are not more than three lirst prize takers. Mr J. E. P. Cameron will give a cup, known as the Be'ti Oliau chal'cnge cup, for most points in draught horses. Last year this cup was won by Mr Andrew Grant, of Allandale. A silver medal is offered bv tho Clydesdale Horse Society for the best yearling Clydesdale, or two-year-old colt, only animals which are registered in the Clydesdale Stud Book being eligible to compete. There are comprehensive classes for light harness, saddle, and thoroughbred horses, and ponies; and tiie classes for hunters to be tried over the fences are, as usual, varied and attractive. The Rhodes Hunt challenge cup, valued at .100 guineas, is again offered. This is for competition among teams of three qualified hunters, the owners of tho winning team to receive £25 in cash, and three miniature nips, and the owners of the second team, £lO. Last year this much coveted cup was won by the Brackenliekl .Hunt. It has been wen in turn hv tho Christchurch Hunt, the Otago Hunt, the Waiinnte .Hunt, and on two occasions by the South Canterbury Hunt. A calc of purebred stock- will ho h<dd on the .show ground on the second day of the Show, commencing at ,10 a.in. Only stock entered in the Association’s catalogue, and “starred’’ therein, as being for sale, will be submitted to auction.
