OBITUARY.

AN OLD TIMAItUVIAN.

There passed away on Juno 20th, at the residence of her youngest daughter, Mrs P. Frehner, Wairqa., Hawke? s Bay, one of Timaru’s earliest residents, in the person of Mrs. I. H: Peters wife of the late Mr I. H. Peters. ; Mr and Mrs Peters came to New Zealand-by the ship Accrington, landing at Lyttelton in 1863. They resided in Christchurch for a short time, then proceeded to Tiiharu, where Mr Peters, in conjunction with the late Mr Jones, .carried through successfully many contracts, • including the reservoir and a greater, part of the breakwater. The partners left Timaru in 1888 and carried through the Manawatu Gorge Railway. Following this Mr aiid Sirs Peters were farming in Feilding district until retirement some ■years ago. ' Mrs Peters had-, reached the great age of ninety years arid, like her husband, .who predeceased Her by a little over twelve months, had enjoyed 'wonderfully good health, to the. last. ' The interment took place at the Wairoa cemetery, the ißev. J. A. :Shardlow, Vicar of St. Paul’s, officiating; The late Mrs Peters is survived by four sons and five daughters, , twenty-six . . grandchildren, and nineteen great grandchildren.
