Centrepiece has finished racing for the present and ho may not be seen again until the spring. It is probable that he will be kept in light exercise through the winter, as he is a horse who would put on a lot of condition if given complete rest. There Is a probability that the Brackenfield Hunt will disband. The Christchurch Hunt has offered £SO towards its expense if the Brackenfield Hunt will carry on. Sheik, Delavan’s Quest, Deanwood, Parkwood and Margalong, members of P. Riddle’s team, return to Australia.

The sale of Cimabue fell through on a leg, caused when the gelding struck himself during the Auckland Christmas meeting'. Mr T. A. Duncan was the prospective buyer. C. Tasker, who has been farming for a number of years in the Makikihi district, has returned to Addington, where he has set up as a public trainer. The pacer Talaro has been sent home for a spell, prior to being placed into serious training for the Grand National fixture at August, and the Cup meeting in November. During a work-out Logan Lou struck herself badly and had to be taken to her stall. When examined, it was found that she had split one of her pasterns, and it will be a long time before she sports silk again. Piastoon, winner of the Sydney Cup, was sired by the Melbourne Cup victor Piastre, who was sold at the end of his racing career for about £SOO. Piastoon’s owner is a Queensland pastoralist.
