LABOUR’S VICTORY.
CHRISTCHURCH CITY COUNCIL. By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, April 28. The final results of the City Council polling were declared to-night. -I nev give Labour eleven Councillors, as against the Citizens’ Association -s five. „ ~ The poll was headed by Air D. w. Sullivan, M.P., with 14,891 votes, and at the bottom —thirty-fourth on the list—with 7814 to Dr r J hacker (lovmerly Mayor and M.P.), stood as an Independent. The elected Council'ors! are : —Messrs I). G. Sullivan, M.l*., H. 1Armstrong, ALB., Airs McCombs, Rev. Clyde arr, Afr Cook,, Airs Herbert Butterfield,. Aiessrs Hunter, AlncFarlanc, Bcanland, Roberts, Manning, Beuven, Sharpe, Andrews, and Lyons. The non-Labour members are: —Airs Herbert, Aiessrs Bcanland, Beaven, Andrews and Lyons. . Official returns of the. Hospital Board and Harbour Board poll are not available. On a preliminary count, the city elected four Labour and four nonLabour members to eight seats on the Hospital Board. Other districts however, returned non-Labour candidates, so that Labour will be in a minority on tlie new Board. For the Harbour Board, the city retudlied two Labour and two nonLabour. Labour will be in a minority on the new Board.
