MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of tho Women's Christian Temperance Union was held in the Sailors’ Rest on Tuesday afternoon. The Cradle Roll superintendent reported that a social afternoon had been hold on April 9th, when musical items, social intercourse, afternoon tea, and a short address to the mothers by tire l.’lunkct Nurse made the time pass pleasantly. The o'cler children were presented with toy balloons on sticks, and the babies with pretty rattles. Sir Woodward reported four oversea, boats in port for the month, 148 men paying about 275 visits. A social, which was very hugely attended, was given to the men of the s.s. Tainui, and the s.s. Port Hacking. The men of the coastal boats had made good use of the Rest over the holidays. Biscuits had been received Irony .Mrs Bruce, andf magazines from Mrs Logan and 'other friends. May 10th was fixed for the annual Peach Day prayer meeting, and it was decided to ho’d a bring-and-buy social afternoon ami evening. Commit Lees were formed for the successful carrying oni of this function.

The Timaru Women Citizens’ Association extended a cordial invitation to members to attend a lecture by .Miss Cardale, on “Protection of Women and Children.” in tbe W.E.A. room. A comprehensive report of Convention. compiled by Airs Cave aiid Airs Alinifie, was rend, and tbe delegates were accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
