A Gazette notice gives the dates for the opening and closing of the coming shooting season in the South Canterbury and the Waimate acclimatisation districts respectively. in both districts, the soason will open; on May 2 and close on July 31, both days inclusive. Licenses to take or kill imported and native game will be issued at 2s each, and for native game only at Is each. The number of imported game and native game, or native game only, that may be taken or killed by any one person in any one day, shall not exceed twelve mallard duck, six paradise duck, twenty head in all of grey duck, spoonbill duck, black teal and black swan. This applies to the South Canterbury acclimatisation district. In the Waiimate district the number of native game that may be taken in any one day shall not exceed 25 head in all of grey and spoonbill duck, pukeko and black swan, and six paradise duck. Shooting may not begin earlier than one hour before sunrise, and must cease not later than one hour after sunset.
