ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the South Canterbury Football Association was held last night, when Rev. C. W. Duncumb presided over a large attendance. The chairman, on moving the adoption of the annual report (which lias been published) said that they had had a very successful season, and showed a formidable credit balance. CORRESPONDENCE. A letter was received from the New Zealand Football Association acknowledging the receipt of the annual report and accounts for 192 G, extending congratulations on the success obtained during the year, and hoping that the present year would meet with the same success. Regarding the visit of the Canadian team to New Zealand, the date that the team will play in Timaru was fixed for July 6. Mr Jarvis moved that Rule No. 5 be amended to read that "the president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer, together with six others who shall be neutral, to be elected at the annual general meeting, shall constitute the management committee.”

The chairman spoke in favour of the motion, saying that if this came into force every verdict would be given clean and fair to all clubs.

Mr J. R. Snedden also was in favour of the change, saying that when he was president in 19 23 this rule was in force and had proved very successful. Mr R. Green spoke very strongly in favour of a neutral management committee, saying that his club had not received a fair deal during the previous year. Mr -W. G. Angus, as a member of last year’s committee, opposed this statement, but was ruled out of order.

After a lengthy discussion the motion was lost, the old rule to stand, which is “that the president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer, together with seven others to he elected at the annual general meeting, shall constitute the. management committee.” The election of officers resulted: Patrons, Mr J. R. Snedden and Hon. F. J. Rolleston; president, i Mr W. S. Young; vice-presidents, Messrs G. J. Wallace, M. J. Doyle, O. Hutchison, J. W. Stockdale, A. Hill, A. Fraser, M. Little, J. Simpson, C. H Johnstone, and M. Henderson; secretary, Mr J. Drummond; treasurer, Mr A. Foden; management committee, Messrs J. Jarvis, Jj. Eegbie, J. R. Snedden, A. Greig, R. Bell, C. Chidgey, and J. McDonald. Representative to New Zealand Association, left to the New Zealand Association. Regarding new grounds, the chairman stated that the present lease for these had expired. The renewal of Russell Square had. been granted by the Council. • It was decided to apply for a full size ground on Anzac Square. Permission had been received to use Fraser Parle on July 6 for the match against the Canadian team. Arrangements are well in hand, and cars had been loaned to convey the team to and from the grounds. that there were about twenty young people in the Y.M.C.A. who were keen to play, and it was decided to go further into the matter.
