With the tobacco tax looming on the Budget horizon, wido prominence is being given to the phenominal growth of women smokers. It is estimated that 75 per cent, of tho increase in tobacco sales is due to this cause. The smoking habit among women incidentally came under the severe castigation by the Loaders of the Somerset Women’s Institute at their annual conference, where it was described. as a nasty, filthy habit, symptomatic of self indulgence and lack cif self _ restraint, which was a characteristic of present days.
