SPORTING.

MISHAP TO WINDBAG. Jy Cable —Press Association —Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received March IS, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, March 18. After doing light work to-day, Windbag picked up a pebble in his off forehoof, causing him to limp as he left the course. A veterinary examined him, and stated that the champion had jarred his foreleg and also bruised the frog. It will be a dav or two probably before the actual extent of the damage done, and whether it will affect his Randwick engagements, is ascertained. The Victorian Doncaster candidate Manacre also met with a mishap. When returning from a gallop he threw his rider and galloped into the rails, where he remained suspended till sawn free. He lost a lot of skin and hair off his stifles. Veterinary treatment was given. WINDBAG’S TROUBLE SERIOUS. MAY NOT RACE AGAIN. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. By Cable —Press Association —Copyright. (Received March 19, 1-15 a.m.) SYDNEY, March IS. According to a statement made by G. Price, trainer of Windbag, the injury is likely to prove more serious than at first thought, and may not only keep the horse from fulfilling autumn engagements, but prevent him racing again. The injury is to the leg opposite to the one which prevented Windbag fulfilling engagements at last spring meeting, and evidently was' caused by the horse’s attempt to save his weak leg. Windbag, on tlie previous day, did an excellent gallop, and showed no signs of soreness, and pulled up sound. It is stated that the owner and a veterinary (Mr Miller), who examined Windbag, endorsed Price’s opinion, and developments of the next few days will be anxiously awaited.
