WAIMATE.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) ORPHANS DAY. The Commercial Travellers’ Association of South Canterbury have asked the permission of the Aluyor of Waimate to descend upon that prosperous town in gala attire on Saturday next, to collect for the orphanages of South Canterbury. These merry marketers have most diplomatic methods of extracting the necessary coin, and never give offence by carrying their foolery past the limits of good taste. Waimate wifi receive them in the spirit in which they come, and respond as required. PERSONAL. Mr Camming, of the Union Bank, AVaimato, is leaving for a tour via Mount Cook to the Southern Lakes.
