NATIONAL MEETING AT TRENTIIAM. By Telegraph—Press Association, TRENTHAM, March 17. The National Rifle Association may congratulate Itself upon the auspicious opening of the 1927 meeting. The ' weather last evening looked uncertain, and rain fell during the night and early morning. By eight o’clock, however, the clouds had lifted, and the sun came out at intervals as the morning progressed. Three hundred and fifty-two competitors lined up at their posts in readiness for the Service series, and were addressed by Colonel Hughes, who extended a welcome to old and new men. A Renown team came out for the Service matches, and though individually they all “touched” money, they failed to left the teams championship, which went to Wellington Suburbs.
