Walker, who won the singles c . lial j r ‘' pionship in 1919 and 1923, added the honour of skipping the champion pan, after a good fight in the early stages Bell, who had his son as Had, non tho first two heads, getting thiee each, and led, seven to nothing a ■ the third head. Walker opened » account with a single on the louit , adding another on the fifth and sixt . Walker burned the head tvica «vi the seventh, and scored three, reducing Bell’s lead to 7-0. A single to each followed, Bell adding two on the tenth, when the board read, Hamilton u > Auckland 7. Bell scored one on tho eleventh, but Walker took the next three heads with one, two and one, making the score eleven all at the end of the fourteenth head. the next lflad was keenly contested. Brockleush pushed out. Bell junior s shot bowl, and added a. counter to he two. However, Bell senr. drew the shot. Walker then disturbed the head to iio two. Bell touched one of Walker’s woods near the kitty, but on a measure, Walker scored two, and took the lend for the first time, by Id to 11. Thereafter Walker was never headed. He won two successive heads with three and one. Bell scored one on the eighteenth, his first point since the eleventh head. Bell was one on the nineteenth, but- AValker cut out the shot bowl to lie three, a position ho maintained to lead, 20 to 12. Splendid drawing was witnessed on the twentieth head. Auckland was one up when the skips changed ends. Walker added another, and the failure of Bell senr. to drive out Walker’s bowls gave the Auckland pair the championship by 22 to 12. The final of the singles between Clarke and Bell was .disappointing. The latter, who had figured prominently in all three events, had evidently felt the strain, and lacked tne experience of Clarke. . The latter lea eight to five at the ninth head and added six more before Bell took the thirteenth with a single. Olarke reored four at the sixteenth, ana Bell three on the seventeenth. . A two on each of tho two following heads gave Clarke an unchallengeable lead, mid Bell retired, Clarke winning by .34 to 11.
