Burges, whom a huge wave washed off th e destroyer H.M.S. Splendid. Lieutenant-Commander Fads manoeuvred the vessel to where Lieut Burgos was floating pn the crest of a wave, and hauled him aboard as it dashed on to the ship’s side. A cook, who also went overboard, was washed back on deck by a succeeding wave.
