CHILD’S DEATH.
[ RUN DOWN BY OAR. DANES, OF CROSSING BUSY ; STREETS. 3v Teleeraph —Press Association. ‘ WELLINGTON, January 10. An inquest was held regarding . the death or a lour-year-old boy, Roy ■ Hardings McCullough, as a result of , being knocked down by a motor driven on tiie Adelaide Road by Dr Paget, . of Island Bay. The child's mother said tliree children were playing on the street. She saw a car travelling towards' town at a moderate speed on 'the correct side. Deoeased left the others and ran across in front of the car. Dr Paget said he approached Chilka Street at 20 miles per hour. Watching the intersection he suddenly saw the child running across a few loet from the car. The child was struck by the mudguard. He stopped at once and took the child to hospital. He was paying all attention to dnv- ! ing, and no conversation was going on. After corroborative and police evidence, the jury found no. blame attachable to Dr Paget, and expressed sym-‘ pathy with the mother and doctor. The jury added a rider that children should be specially instructed by their parents and school teachers regarding the dangers of crossing busy streets.
