A CENTENARIAN.
ANOTHER PIONEER PASSES. Mrs Anne Abraham, who died at Kaikoura on Saturday morning at the age of a hundred years and eight days, was the daughter of Mr Allan Gyles, and was born in Tipperary, Ireland, arriving in Victoria in 1851. In 1855 she married Mr Luke Abraham, and came to Wellington. In 1850 they arrived in Kaikoura on their way to Cheviot, but after spending two years there they returned to Kaikoura, where they remained until removed by death. In her younger days, the late Mrs Abraham took a keen interest in Anglican Church matters, and she was very popular in the district. Her husband predeceased her by 20 years. She .is survived by a family of three, Airs George Lawson, Mrs James Boyd and Air John Abraham, all of Kaikoura, She loaves twenty grandchildren, .eight,y-two great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandcliildren. The funeral took plate on Sunday afternoon, when a large number of residents attended. The Rev. Canon Kimberley officiated at the graveside. Old residents consider that the late Mrs Abraham was the. first white woman to arrive in Kaikouia, but others state that the :ate Airs J. M’lnties arrived in the district prior to Mrs Abraham.
