ADDINGTON AIARKET. SHARP RISE ON FATS. By Te’eflaanli- -Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Oct, 13. Entries in the sheep section at Addington to-day wore small, -and a sharp rise in values was- created. Particularly was this the case in fat sheep and fat lambs. A heavy entry of beef met with lower values. Store Sheep.—There was a very small entry, and ai particularly, keen sale for ewe hoggets, and a firmer one for ewes and lambs, due to the good rainfall of the past week. Good aged ewes and lambs made 15/- to 16/6, fair ewes and lambs 13/- to 14/6; Corriedale ewe hoggets 3 8/1, threequarter-bred wether hoggets 23/6 to 24/11, two and four-toothed crossbred wethers 26/-.

Spring Lambs. —The entry of 190 was too few for butchers’ requirements, and a jump of 3/- to 5/- a head took place. Alost of the lamb i made over 1/- a lb. Prices ranged from 24/- to 36/- per head. A small yarding of fat sheep, most of it of excellent quality, met with a spurt in values, the average rise being from 4/- to 5/- a head. Extra ( prime wethers made 44/- to 46/10, i prime 39/- to 43/-, medium 36/- to 38/6; extra prime ewes to '3 97/10, prime 31/G to 36/-, medium 29/6 to ! 3 2/-; prime shorn wethers 31/- to 35/10, medium shorn wethers 25/6. to 29/-. - , ' Fat Cattle.- —In a large entry, of 550 head —200 more, than last week —the bulk were from North Island, Canterbury and Banks Peninsula, but a good few truck lots of cows and heifers came from South Otago and Southland. The sale at the commencement lost the 40/- advance recorded last week, but recovered by 20/- per head over most of the sale. Best beef made to 41/- per TOO lbs., good prime 37/- to 40/-, -heavy 33/-to 36/-, medium quality 32/6 to 35/-, and inferior dowil to 27/6 per lOOlbs. The sale concluded firmly. Extra heavy bullocks realised £l9 to £2O/12/6, prime heavy steers £l6 to £lB, prime, medium weight steers £l4/10/- to £l6/5/-, medium quality, steers-£ll/10/- to £14..- Extra, prime heifers £l4 to £l6/12/6, prime heifers £ll/5/- to £l3/10/r-, ordinary heifers £9 to £11;. extra prime cows to £l4/17/6, prime, cows £lO/5/- to £l2/15/-, ordinary cows £7/5/- to £lO. • ' Vealers were a poor quality lot. Good runners made £B, and best calves £4/10/- to £6. Store Cattle!—Only odd lots were forward. A few pens of three find four-year steers made to £9/15/-, and twO-year-olds to £6/1/-. Dairy Cattle.- —Of a small entry, best second to fourth calvers realised £7 to £lO, others' £3/10/- t 6 £5/5/7; springing heifers £2/10/-,to £6. ■•Fat Pigs.—A medium entry met a slacker sale for bacopers, but porkers were about the same as last week. BURNSIDE SALE. SHEEP AND CATTLE FIRAIER. By Telegraph—Pr«*» Aisocmtloi ( DUNEDIN, October 13.. . At Burnside to-day, sheep advanced from 1/- to 2'/- per head, and fat cattle by 20/-. Fat Sheep.—A penning of 1501 was a good mixed entry. There was a better demand throughout, and prices improved from 1/- to 2/- per head. The later sales were the better. Heavy sheep showed least change. Extra heavy wethers realised from 44/- to 51/-, prime heavy 38/- to 41/6, lighter 31/- to 35/6; best ewes 2S/- to 31/6, lighter 21/to 25/9. Spring Lambs.— For twenty-two lambs of good quality, competition was keen. Extra heavy made 47/to 50/-, prime heavy 41/- to 45/-, lighter 30/- to 36/-. Extra heavy wethers made 6d per pound, light GJd, ewes 6d to 6d, lamb 1/9 lb. Fat Cattle. —In a yarding of 271, the proportion of cows and heifers was fairly large. Some choice bullocks from the south and locally were included; the balance of the entry wa§ composed of good average quality steers. The sale opened with rates on a par with last week’s, and valuos firmed by perhaps 10/-. An extra prime heavy bullock realised £l9/12/6. Prime heavy bullocks made £l7 to £lB/10/-, medium £ls/10/- to £l6/10/-; extra heavy cows £lO to £l2, heavy £9 to £lO, medium £7/10/- to £B/10/-. Extra heavy bullock beef sold at 40/- per lOOlbs, heavy 35/1, cow 25/- to 30/-. Store Cattle. —There was a big yarding, mostly of cows. One or two pens of three-year-old steers brought £9/5/- per head, and three or four

pens of two-yekr-olda realised from £5/15/-. Eighteen months steers brought from £4/15/- to £5. Forward cows were worth about £6 on the average. ... f .- • ■ .
