.- i i \ Situation Growing Worse. CIVIL WAR FEARED. By Cable —Press Association —Copyright. Sydney “ San " Service. (Received October 11, r.,15 p.m.) LONDON, October 10. The Helsingfors correspondent of the “Daily News” reports that the Russian situation is growing worse, and civil war is feared.

Opposition to the Soviet is increasing throughout the country, especially in Kronstadt, Moscow, and Ukraine. The last-named is demanding independence. The Government anticipates crushing any outbreak within forty-eight hours. Troops have already occupied strategic points.

A Riga message states that the Soviet is taking urgent measures to re-establish army discipline, which the oppositionists have undermined. Cavalry have been sent to suppress outbreaks in the south-west, where it ■s believed a minor peasant revolution is likelv.
