After tin's conference, where every opportunity for. free, discussion, was given,'certain re-' filiations were drawn up. This provided that taxi-cabs should bo kept clean and in repair, and that taxidrivers should bo suitably and respectably dressed, " and'that the stand should not bo made a place where loitering was I encouraged or taxi-cabs cleaned and repaired. These simplo and necessary regulations were resented by tho stand, and that resentment was carried to annoying lengths. Ultimately this took • tho form of a preposterous prosecution of the Mayor, which was dismissed by the Magistrate in a strongly-worded lecture to the taximan.
