FAIRLIE.
(From Our Own Correspondent). At a meeting of tlio committee of the Mackenzie County Agricultural and Pastoral Society, Held in tho Technical School, Fairlic, there were present Messrs. T. F. Bussell (presiC. J. Talbot, AV. Pickering, J. Sinclair, J. Sims, S. Dale, G. ..Morris, B. Miller, AV. H. Cook, D. R. Howden, J. R. Wyber,- J. Turkington, J. Trotter and H. AVelsli. Mrs Goodwin wrote stating that she would bo jileased to renew her cup for freezer lambs, which lmd been won outright at tlio last show.
A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs Goodwin for her valuable trojihy, and tile secretary was instructed to writo to her to that effect.
Messrs C. L. Gillies, F. A. Nicholas and J. K. Blair wrote stating that their expenses as judges would he nil.
A vote of thanks was passed to all judges for their 'valuable services. Mr Roderick Mackenzie wrote enclosing a donation to the prize fund, and tendering his resignation as a member of tho Society', as he had nonleft the district.
Mr Mackenzie’s resignation was accepted with regret, and a vote of thanks was passed to him for his valuable support in the i>nst. A letter was received from the South Island Agricultural and Pastoral Federation asking for tlio date of the annual show, and also advising that the annual subscription was due. Tlio committee’s opinion was asked in regard to the payment of judges’ expenses, and a suggestion for payment was made.
No action was taken in this, tlio. Society- having always been well treated by its judges in the past. Tlie annual report and balance sheet, which will be presented at tho annual meeting on June 28, was read. The balance sheet showed that the show had been a very- successful one, the credit balance for tho year’s working being .£.'llß 11s 7d, and that with tlio balance carried forward from last year, the credit balance was £335 19s 7d. The main items of receijits were: — Subscriptions £284 os, entry- fees £l3B 2.5, donations £154 11s 6d, side shows £l7 17s Gd, advertising £29 15s, catalogues £l2 ss, guessing competition £lO, gate £174 14s, privileges £3O, rent £l9.
Hie expenditure side showed : —Prize money- £320 14s, wages and salaries £94 ids, jirinting and advertising £9B, catering £29 8s Gd, judges’ expenses £4 2s Od, band £7 7s, postage and stationery £lO, insurances: £9 os lOd, sundry £25 12s 2d. Mr Talbot jnopo.sed, and Mr Trotter seconded that tho report and balance sheet should he approved, and that it ho printed and sent to members. Mr Talbot referred to tho splendid y-ear tho Society- had had, it being very pleasing to see so largo a credit balance.
Mr Trotter congratulated tho committee on the good results oi tlio year, and .said that lie did not think that anyone would now raise the question of the rise in the membership fee.
