In the House of Commons, - the Finance Bill passed the committee stage. A succession of amendments were defeated, including the suggested reduction of (lie sugar and whisky duties and the entertainment tax. Mr Churchill stated that instead of remission there was a probability, if the present situation continued, that the revenue must be strengthened.
