Costly Insurances Of
Workers.
NEW SCHEDULE ISSUED. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received June 22, 8.35 p.m.) SYDNEY, June 22. The schedule of rates for insurance, under the Workers’ Compensation Act which comes into operation on July 1, shows an increaso of 150 per cent, over the old rates, plus 40 per cent, for sickness. In the case of builders’ employees, tlm rates are increased 30s to 115 s per cent., clerical workers 2s Gd to 46s 3d, printers 13s Gd to /os 6d.
The rates for other employments are corresponding!!' increased. A prominent master builder states that the increased liability will place an additional burden of £250,000 annually on the builders. Workmen’s homes at present costing £SOO, will in future cost about £B2O.
