FOLLY OF COAL STRIKE.
To the Editor of the “Timaru Herald.” Sir.—Under the heading “Irony of Coal Deadlock,” you let us seo veiy plainly Russian, and any other foreign miners 1 reason for sending money to support the British coal miners’ strike. It seems to us, at this distance, an unfortunate puzzle, that the British workers lose money so willingly to help foreign industries to oust .them out of the world’s market, as well as their own. Strike after strike tells us the same tale of the enormous loss in wages to the men, which, it seems to us, will take them years to recover, and as expenses are not likely to lessen for them,, the Joss is for good and all. —I am, etc., AN OLD BRITON, i
