ROSE IN ENGLAND,

The New Zealander, Randolph Rose, starting from scratch, in a. sp9cial 80 yard short limit one mile handicap, at the Civil Service Sports at, Stamford Bridge, finished last. Tho track was heavy, and there was no medium staid man to take liim along. Ho covered a quarter of a mile in 60 4-5 sec, and as after that ho saw no chance of catching the leaders, ho cased up. Six runners competed. Driver, of Woolwich Polytechnic, won with 75yds start, in 4min 17 4-ssec. Rose’s time was 4min 32 3-ssee. CONTESTS IN CAMBRIDGE. The -.Cambridge Amateur Athletic Association -team boat Cambridge University by 52 points to 38. The 100yds was won by the New Zealander Porritt (Association), ltinkel (Cambridge) 2, and Harrison (Cambridge) 3, by half a yard, in 10 l-ssec. Porritt finished with a fine burst of speed.
