NEW DENTAL SCHOOL.
OPENED IN DUNIvDLV. By Telegraph—Fress Association DUNEDIN, June. 12. TJic new dcn(;ti school, ciwtuijr _ CiOu, was opened .yesterday ntienmon liy the Minister of Education (Hon. ]{ A. Wrignt). Most of the money was found by the Government, but the privalc gilts included P'KMIO from Mr T. K. Sidev, .H.P., and an N-ray plant, costing IDUO from Messrs Hudson and Co. Alter the Minister’s address, Di I’ickcrill, Director, stated that’ ]]:>, .students wore in training in fast year’s clinic. Tho new building provided GO chairs; they had 63 students last year taking operative dentistry, so that the new accommodation was just sufficient for present needs. Giving a general address. Dr Pickerin insisted on the importance of apples to prevent tho decay of teeth. Yet with New Zealand’s abundance of fruit it was too dear for daily consumption. He urged Government action whereby sufficient apples for health purposes ior New Zealand’s children could be stored and rationed at cost throughout, the year. In the evening the Dental Students’ Association hold a commemoration dinner, the principal guests being Mr Sklev (Chancellor), aim Mr K. C. Morpeth, (chairman of the Executive Council of the New Zealand Dental Association).
