The Commonwealth Government of Australia has notified the League Maritime Conference, that it is doubtful whether the moment has nJ,! vea wllon 1,10 time of the Labour Othce can usefully be taken up in considering such a project as tho codification of seamen’s articles. It has urged that this should bo left to national laws of the countries to which the ships belong, hut if (.here is to he a convention, it should he confined to vessels engaged in international trade, leaving the countries to observe general principles in domestic shipping.
