FOUND DROWNED.
BODY IN TIMARU HARBOUR. A young man, a local resident, while walking along the Marine Parade yesterday morning at 11 o’clock, noticed a body floating in the water on the Bay side of the Parade. The young man managed to get the body out of the water, and it was found to be that of Frederick Often, a married man, aged 70 years, who resided with his wifo at 7 Latter Street. ■' Dr. Fea was at once summoned, but could only pronounce life extinct, and tho body was removed to the morgue by Constable Heron, It is understood, that for some time past deceased had been in the habit of going to the Bay in tlie morning for the purpose of gathering firewood, and ho left his home at 7 o’clock yesterday morning with that idea in view. It is surmised that while in tho vicinity of tho Parade tho old man fell in and wsfs drowned. Hij walking stick was floating near the body when discovered.
An inquest will be held this morning. r
