The Portuguese President has resigned for a reason at present not announced, but the situation has recently been complicated by t'he action of the Confederation of Labour in preparing to oppose any attempt to establish a military dictatorship. On the contrary, the revolutionary leaders at the beginning expressed a desire to tlio President that the new Government should be reformed outside the political parties. Troops in the northern and southern districts supporting Costa are marching on Lisbon, and will encamp on the outskirts, pending the arrival of the General. SUCCESS OF REVOLT.
