LOCAL ELECTIONS.
IN SOUTH CANTERBURY. THE NOMINATIONS. Nominations for scats on various South Canterbury local bodies, for the ensuing year, closed at noon yesterday. Apparently little interest was taken in the proceedings, as in the gieat majority of cases sitting members were returned unopposed. LEVELS COUNTY. For Levels County Council they aro as follows:—’ . , Teugawai Riding—Mr T. B. Garner: Point riding—Mr R. G. Cleland. Seadown riding—Mr T. \\. Brosnalian. Waimataitai riding—Mr Donald Grant. ' Claremont riding—Mr G. D. Selbie and Mr D. T. McPhedran (one wanted); M Otipua riding—Mr C. E. Kerr an* Mr Robert Stewart (one wanted). For tlie two contested seats a poll will be taken on Wednesday, May 12. Candidates for other seats, to represent Levels County, are: — On the Hospital Board, for the combined district of Levels County and Pleasant Point Town District— Mr G. Saunders. On the South Canterbury Power Board—Mr C. E. Kerr and Mr G. Saunders. ' - On the Timaru Harbour Board— Mr W. H. Orbcll and Mr J. E. P. Cameron (one wanted). IN MACKENZIE COUNTY. Nominations for seats in the Mackenzie County are as follows: — Albury riding—Messrs J. McCort, J. Moffatt and P. Kidd (two wanted). Fairiie riding—Messrs H. P. Manaton and C. J. Talbot (elected). Opuha riding—Messrs A. F. Campbell and F. W. Buckley (elected). Teknpo riding—Messrs J. J. Pago and T. J. Seay (elected). Representatives on Timaru Harbour Board—Messrs J. McCort and A. F, Campbell (elected). On South Canterbury Hospital Board—Mr E. Macdonald. On South Canterbury Power Board —Mr C. J. Talbot, GERALDINE COUNTY. The following have been nominate! for seats on the Geraldine County Council— Geraldine riding—Messrs Iv. Mackenzie, F. R. Flatman and C. Ley (elected). Xemuka riding—Messrs J. J. Ellis, Malcolm Guild, T. Lyon and G. Tate (elected). Mt. Peel riding—Mr J. M. H. Tripp (elected). To represent Geraldine on the Timaru Harbour Board—Messrs F. R. Flatman and A. R, Guild (elected). To represent Geraldine on the South Canterbury Hospital Board— Messrs E. Hardcastle and B. R. Macdonald (elected). To represent the combined districts of Geraldine County, Temuka and Geraldine Boroughs on the South Ca nterbury Power Board—Messrs J: Kennedy, Iv. Mackenzie,, and J. C. South (elected).
