SYDNEY’S CLAIM.
SECOND WHITE CITY IN THE EMPIRE. By Cable —Press Association —-Copyright. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. SYDNEY, May 1. Sydney claims to lie the second white city in the British Empne. The city assessor compiled statistics showing the decolopment of recent rears. The unimproved value of Sydney in 1895, when the first valuation of" the city was made, was approximately £10,000,000. This to January 1, ]924, increased to £44,500,000. The improved value increased in that Lime from £7)2,000,000 to £141,000.000. The assessor claims further that con siderable development will be shown next year when a revaluation again takes place. 'Pile new buildings at present being constructed in the City represent an outlay of £7,750,000.
