HARLEY-OAVIDSON SINGLE Passes Searching Test of English Expert Opinion A remarkable tribute to the new Harley-Davidson Single was paid by the "Motor Cycle," the authoritative organ of British motor-cycling. Writing on December 3rd after the machine had undergone a searching test !on snowmovered Camberly Heath, the English journal (which is not likely to be biased in favour of American manufactures) said: — Although it is, not the first American 350 c.c. machine to reach this country, the arrival of the 34G c.c. Harley-Davidson has been particularly keenly anticipated on account of the high reputation in Britain of the big twins from the same factory. The fact that Harley-Davidson forks figure so prominently on racing big twins at Brooklands is one of the finest compliments any firm could desire. , The 350 c.c. Harley-Davidson is an ideal colonial machine, and it is only fair to acknowledge to America the full credit for evolving it. The i massive frame, sturdy and simple engine, enclosed valve gear, clean handle-bars, foolproof gears, high ground clearance, and, above all, the superlative steering and poise, are' just the qualities to commend the machine very strongly to the overseas buyer in search for a sma.ll solo machine. Like earlier Harley-Davidsons, it Is a machine which will stand a great deal of abuse, and should last without expert attention for a very long time. It has peculiar points which the British rider may rather hastily criticise until he has sampled the machine for some time but it is safe to predict that he will end on a note of praise.
