STEWARD SAVES PASSENGER IN MID-OCEAN. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, March 18. When the steamer Waimana was en route from Southampton to Auckland, James Douglas Revoll, a young man who went home as a. volunteer seaman on tho Tainui, fell overboard. As he disappeared, T. H. Barry, of the stewards’ department, plunged in, fully clothed, to his assistance. Lifebuoys were thrown overboard, and tho Waimana was turned in her tracks. As quickly as possible a lifeboat was •launched, and picked up both men, who were nearly exhausted. They were clinging to tho life-buoys. This was fifty-six minutes after Ilevell went overboard —quick work under the circumstances. The passengers made Barry a. presentation in recognition of his bravo act.
