Briand’s alleged statement regarding the colonial mandate for Germany is declared to have been inaccurately reported and misinterpreted. It is explained that M. Briand merely indicated that in becoming a member of the League, Germany would automatically enjoy the right to- which all members, he claimed, were entitled, namely to receive Colonial mandates if and when the occasion arose.
