In the House of Commons, in reply to questions Colonel Amery said he had received representation’s to the effect that tho demands for Labour for the naval base a t Singapore were depleting tho supply of the rubber plantations, but the Government assured him that tho total requirements for tho naval base wore insufficient to have any marked effect on the Labour situation in Malaya. The Government of Malnya was- closely watching the situation, with /a local representative of the Admiralty.
